Background
Aquageo is an Irish-owned water-resource management and environmental consultancy operating in the Middle East since 2020. Among other clients, we currently provide management and technical services to the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), in support of their work aiding the transformational Vision 2030 for Saudi Arabia.
The successful candidates will join existing collaborative projects between Aquageo and KAUST, liaising with local senior project managers, academics and subject matter experts to produce scientific reports as output deliverables. The position can have a hybrid working arrangement, based out of offices in Dubai in the UAE, with a partial work-from-home schedule accommodated. Visits to project sites, and to the KAUST campus in KSA, form an essential part of the position.
Education, Skills and Responsibilities
A relevant primary degree in Environmental Engineering/Science, Marine Biology, Ecology, Oceanography (minimum 2.1) or similar is required, with a post graduate qualification preferable. The skills and responsibilities needed for this position include:
- Numerical competency in relevant statistical packages for environmental/ecological survey and ‘blackbox’ software packages.
- Proven track record in robust environmental survey design, logistics and delivery.
- A capacity to critically review, analyse, interpret, summarise, and present technical information and data in an effective and timely manner, particularly in ESIA format.
- Display social and professional aptitude to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including community, business, professional groups, and the public.
- Track record in group working and team leadership.
- Competency in scientific writing and a demonstrated ability to deliver reportage within deadlines (using off the shelf packages such as MS Word).
- Independently organise and prioritise multiple tasks for effective and timely completion.
Ideal Experience and Knowledge:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years’ solid relevant experience, with a mix of field and reporting experience preferable. The preferred candidate would have experience in leading the design and implementation of scientific studies, field surveys and reports particularly in the marine environment and under challenging environmental conditions. Knowledge of Middle Eastern legislation, best practice and standards is desirable but not essential. A full driver’s licence is an advantage.
