Water Resources for Agricultural Development in Algeria
Algeria has taken major strategic steps to improve food security nationally and across the Maghreb. A private developer working with the IFC wanted to review the availability and suitability of freshwater resources for crop irrigation to the satisfaction of IFC and assess potential impacts of the Project’s water usage on communities’ water access.
Aquageo visited and worked with in-country experts to develop a survey of water use in the region and identify sensitive receptors. We ultimately produced a 3D groundwater model and interpretation that allowed comparison of water use scenarios.
